Share

This artwork is in celebration of NAIDOC 2023 theme ‘For our Elders’ and shares the journey, perseverance and guidance of our Elders past and present for they led and provided us with the path to be where we are today.

This artwork shares the path they lead us on to always be moving forward. Our present Elders are represented by the journey they walk us on in the centre path. Our Elders are non-discriminative, they come from all walks of life and throughout our history have always been the believers and fighters for a future of where we can stand strong, proud and live for who we are – as strong men, women and people. It acknowledges those who came before us by representation of Elders past within our skies who continue to watch, guide and protect us from within. This peice shares the beauty of the Country we live through our skies, rivers, oceans, mountains, animals and land thanks to our Elders. The colours in the sky pay acknowledgment to vibrancy of our future as people coming together in appreciation and respect for what we have. The colours on Country bring forward being grounded and feeling at home – a feeling many of us know from the connections and feelings with have for Elders. For our Mudyigang ‘Elders’ have provided us this path.
