HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

Say 'Guwayu' Goodbye to 2021 and Yiradhu Marang 'Good Day' to 2022!

Yaama ‘hello’ everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and were able to share it with your loved ones (I know some of us were isolating, so have had delayed Christmas gatherings). In amongst the last minute shopping for presents/food preparation and travelling to be with the people that mean the most to you, I hope you were really able to slow down and take a much-deserved break.

Can you believe it, we are now welcoming 2022! I’ve been reflecting on how amazing this year has been for my business. I am so grateful for each and everyone of you whom I was able to touch base with, started a project or even referred me to other organisations or deadly business owners who were in need of branding & illustration design. Leticia Anne Designs & Co. would not have made it without all of you. It just goes to show how powerful the impact of your mob can be, and I truly love the energy and care that goes on around our communities. With that, I want to sincerely say a huge Mandaang Guwu ‘thank you’, from all of us here at Leticia Anne Designs & Co.!

On another note, I also just want to take the time and send my thoughts out to our children who are currently in foster care. This season may be especially tough for them, as they may be feeling the sense of longing to belong to a family now more than ever. The holiday season isn’t the same for everyone, and I absolutely believe that this is the time for us to send our love and thoughts to those who need it a little more.

As we wrap up 2021 and welcome 2022, I’m excited to share our last Yarn and Share for the year! Read on for exciting announcements and a HUGE give away that’s happening in January!

One of my design highlights for this month is a website for my dear sister, Clare McLennon’s. I’ve always been such a huge fan of her detailed and beautiful artworks not to mention she is one of our deadly creative. So when Clare reached out for some help in creating her logo and website I got so excited – for it was a long time coming 🙌

Clare always brings such a spiritual depth into to her practice celebrating connection to environment and self through her beautiful works. Her original art collections are inspired by our relationship with nature, the oceans and the feminine form.

GETTING TO KNOW JESS OF DHIIYAAN ART

#Blak Business Feature Graphic of Dhiiyaan Art

There are so many deadly businesses out there, and it has been apart of my mission to share them with you everytime I can. Earlier this month, I was able to yarn with Jess of Dhiiyaan Art and now I am so happy to share about her story and her passion for creating art on here! 🙌

Read on to find out a little more about Jess and Dhiiyaan Art! 👇

What inspired you to start your business?

I find painting very therapeutic and a beautiful way to connect to culture. I really enjoy creating pieces that reflect my own personal stories and unique journey as Aboriginal women and mother.

During the 2020/2021 lockdowns my family and I had more time at home and naturally we just started painting, endlessly painting! Very quickly we had lots of pieces and not enough walls to fill.

I suggested to my Dad (Peter Turk) and his wife (Samantha Turk nee Howard) the idea of launching a page dedicated to our art and we went for it.

I used my social media & marketing skills & set up Facebook/Instagram/Tiktok accounts which have attracted over 5000 followers combined in just over a year and just like that Dhiiyaan Art was born. (Dhiiyaan = Family)

What's your favourite thing to do outside of the business?

I love gardening, we have a native bush tucker patch and loads of fruit trees at home, I love connecting with nature and the relaxing vibe a garden brings. (although let’s just ignore the ever present weed situation)

What's something you'd like to share with other mob looking to start their own business?

Always invest in yourself. You are your business. Level up with continual growth do courses, learn from those around you listen to podcasts that align with your beliefs/culture and always be prepared for opportunities the universe sends your way.

And lastly love what you do , my art is a way for me to share and celebrate my culture while strengthening my own identity. I want my children to see a strong proud woman loving what she does and providing safe nurturing environment as we grow together.

What is a fun fact about you?

I’m deadly on the netball court, watch out 😂
